Chennai’s largest art exhibition, Oviya Sangamam 2025, was
conducted by the Indian Art Factory at Semmozhi Poonga on February 2nd, 2025.
Certainly, anyone who walked into this 20-acre park to experience its diverse
collection of flora and well-maintained gardens would have had an episode of ‘Art
Attack’ last Sunday.
In its 15 years, this first botanical garden of Chennai city witnessed a
one-of-a-kind art exhibition, with over 500 artists from across the country
showcasing more than 10,000 artworks.
The artworks were profoundly expressed on varied themes, in distinct mediums, and in
all shapes and sizes, including modern art, realism, hyper-realism, abstract,
sculpture, and many more.
Stunning crafts and handmade artifacts made from palm leaves, paper, glass, beads,
metal wires, mirrors, clay, coconut shells, threads, fabrics, and much more were
also showcased.
Artworks ranged from miniature portraits to wall-sized paintings, including
landscapes, flowers, animals, themes based on various Gods, Kerala mural arts,
minimalistic Japanese-inspired paintings, depictions of temples and festival
celebrations. Human portraits that expressed a wide range of emotions, from despair
to delight and everything in between, were also displayed. The entire collection was
a spectacular visual treat.
Being a part of such a grand event was indeed a joyous and humbling experience. Our
stall featured artworks from ten friends from ' Padmaja Art World ' who share a deep
passion for art. The exhibition provided us with an opportunity to meet and
appreciate each other's works, have fun, and create unforgettable memories.
The day began with everyone assembling at the venue, arranging and displaying our
neatly framed artworks on the table and backdrop of our stall, taking numerous
pictures, and slowly unpacking snack boxes thoughtfully brought by some of us. Then,
we began interacting with fellow artists and participants, learning about their
works—an experience we cherished.
Our stall was visited by friends, families, other artists, and many park visitors.
We were overwhelmed by their positive feedback and kind comments on our works. It
was truly gratifying! Some visitors shared that our artworks evoked old memories and
went on reminiscing their stories. We were all delighted. A few even asked for more
details about the subjects portrayed in certain works. Nearly all of them
appreciated our efforts, passion for art, and the intricate details in our
creations. As artists, it was truly heartwarming for all of us.
The overwhelming art experience, coupled with all the goodwill and positivity in the
air, deeply resonated with us and left us in a state of reflection. This experience
will be treasured forever!

To start with, I am a plastic surgeon and an artist (which used to be an equal part
of my life as medicine).
My last big art event was my attempt for the Limca record. Since then, I haven't
touched my brush much. But your event has kindled my interest again, and I am trying
to make art a part of my life once more.
I really loved the event and was so happy to see and interact with so many beautiful
and talented artists.
It is encouraging for so many people around. It's like a whole new world.
